This workshop is designed to strengthen your skills as a beadmaker and assist you in achieving your own unique designs. Techniques will include multi-layer encasing, assembling canes, color mixing and overlays, sculptural techniques, surface decorations, and creating complex components. We’ll study textures, shapes and colors found in nature as our primary source of inspiration and how to integrate these elements to create a wide variety of designs. We’ll also focus on perfecting your bead shapes, controlled application of stringers and dots, and creating complementary backgrounds. There will be plenty of time to practice these techniques.
Bio: Kim Fields began making glass beads in 1999 after an introductory lampworking class led her to the book, “Making Glass Beads” by Cindy Jenkins. She attributes her beadmaking skills to great teachers including Sage and Tom Holland, Leah Fairbanks, Loren Stump and several other accomplished beadmakers. Lampworking has brought Kim tremendous joy and she continues to explore new techniques in order to evolve as a beadmaker. Kim teaches beadmaking and her work can be seen at numerous shows, galleries, and online at www.northfiredesigns.com
